Radiata Pine (Monterey Pine)
New Zealand Radiata pine heartwood is an even, light brown to chestnut brown colour with the sapwood creamy white. Resin canals are present as fine brown lines in the latewood part of the growth rings, especially on radial surfaces and these can be a handy means of identification. Texture is fine but uneven.
The contrast in colour and texture between early and latewood bands (growth rings) in flat-sawn timber is relatively moderate compared to other pines and conifer species. The veneer has a moderate-to-high lustre. Common features in most Pinus species, including radiata pine, are: knots, cone stem holes and pine-needle flecks.

Radiata pine is a versatile and readily available timber, suitable for a wide variety of end-use applications. It produces wood that is very acceptable to the construction industry. It is suitable for use in the manufacture of adhesives; it also contains some wax, which may have possible use in water repellents.
Radiata Pine has a number of structural uses including decking, fencing, exterior cladding, window sashes, pergolas, landscaping, shingles, barge boards and exterior trim.
Untreated, it can be used for furniture, mouldings, trim and panelling. Panel products, such as plywood, MDF and laminated veneer lumber can also be manufactured from radiata pine resources.
Radiata does not begin to form heartwood until it is about 15 years old and forms it at the rate of one ring every two years. Most of the wood, therefore, is easy to dry and easy to treat sapwood. This is an advantage over many Northern Hemisphere conifers, which are largely heartwood..jpg)
Our forestry is mainly situated in the North Island of New Zealand comprising a number of stands of mature pinus ranging from as small as 50 hectares to many thousands of hectares. We have access to trees aged from 24 to 37 years and can supply pruned or unpruned in a variety of log types.
As well as supplying logs direct, Tranzasia is in a position to locate and purchase forestry on behalf of overseas buyers. This ensures that a realistic and accurate analysis of forests can be obtained over and above MARVL information. Tranzasia’s logging gangs are skilled and experienced and ensure the best possible harvesting and handling of timber. We are able to provide management, harvest, carriage and shipping of forests purchased on behalf of international buyers as well as MARVL data, harvest plans and other assessments as required.

The company has contracts for regular shipping and is in a position to ensure cargoes of cut timber leave New Zealand on a monthly basis for China or other destinations as required.
